Technical Contribution to Kenya’s CRPD State Reporting

The Challenge

Kenya obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities require evidence not just commitments on education health and rehabilitation access for persons with disabilities.

My Role

Represented the Directorate of Special Needs Education in technical review sessions for Kenya Combined Second Third and Fourth State Report contributing education sector evidence on Articles 24 to 26 education health habilitation and rehabilitation and cross sector referral systems.

Impact

Helped document and consolidate the education sector progress on access and participation for learners with disabilities feeding directly into Kenya international accountability process.

Rights become meaningful only when they are translated into services opportunities and systems that people can experience in everyday life.

Let’s work together

Building something in disability inclusion or education?

I take on a select number of projects and speaking engagements each year. If you’re working on something that could benefit from my experience — a training, a study, a policy conversation — I’d like to hear about it.
