Digital Skills & Coding Clubs Programme — Samburu County

The Challenge

Digital-skills and coding programmes are frequently designed without considering learners with disabilities from the outset, widening the digital divide rather than closing it.

My Role

Supported field coordination with the Raspberry Pi Foundation and The Action Foundation — school readiness and accessibility assessments, ICT infrastructure mapping, and stakeholder engagement across eight schools.

Impact

Established a baseline understanding of schools’ readiness for coding clubs, identified accessibility gaps, and helped ensure future digital programmes are designed inclusively from the start.

The digital divide is not only about internet access. It is also about who gets invited to shape the future. Inclusive coding education ensures learners with disabilities are creators of technology, not merely consumers of it.

Let’s work together

Building something in disability inclusion or education?

I take on a select number of projects and speaking engagements each year. If you’re working on something that could benefit from my experience — a training, a study, a policy conversation — I’d like to hear about it.
